More than 70 percent of the votes have been cast in the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections at various centers, said Vice-Chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan. He gave this information at around 3 pm today, Tuesday.

Voting began at 8 am today at the designated 8 polling centers. Voting ended at 4 pm. The percentage of votes cast at different centers starting from 8 am has been reported from the relevant returning officers. 3,300 students voted at the TSC polling center till 1:30 pm, which is about 58 percent of the total voters at this center. The center’s returning officer Nasrin Sultana gave this information to Prothom Alo.

Nasrin Sultana said that 2,100 students voted in 12 booths in the TSC cafeteria room and 1,200 students voted in 7 booths in the indoor games room till 1:30 pm.

Students of Rokeya Hall are voting at the TSC center. The number of voters at this center is 5,665.

Regarding the overall situation at this center, Nasrin Sultana told Prothom Alo, “Girls are coming to vote spontaneously. 58 percent of girls have voted at this center by 1:30 pm. Everyone is able to vote without any problems.”

The total number of voters at the Physical Education Center is 4,861. By 2:30 pm, about 78 percent or 3,786 votes have been cast at this center.

The voters at this center are students of Jagannath Hall, Zahurul Haque Hall and SM Hall.

Until 2:30 pm, 1,726 out of 2,229 votes cast at Jagannath Hall (77 percent), 1,575 out of 1,963 votes cast at Zahurul Haque Hall (80 percent) and 485 out of 669 votes cast at SM Hall (72 percent) have been cast at this center. Jagannath Hall Principal Debashish Pal, SM Hall Principal Abdullah-al-Mamun and Shaheed Sergeant Zahurul Haque Hall Principal Faruk Shah separately reported the results of the counting of votes in their respective halls. The returning officers in charge of the center said that more than 82 percent of the votes had been cast at the Senate Bhaban center by 2:30 pm.

Voting is being held at a total of three centers in the Senate Bhaban. These are the Dining Room, Seminar Room and Alumni Floor centers. The total number of voters in the three centers is 4,835. Of these, 4,000 have voted by 2:30 pm.

At the Dining Room center, 2,043 students from Bijoy Ekattor Hall are voters. Returning officer Professor Touhidul Islam said that 1,800 votes have been cast here by 2:30 pm.

At the Seminar Room center, 1,409 voters from Muhsin Hall. Returning Officer Professor Shamim Ahmed said that 1,100 votes had been cast here as of 2:30 pm.
